BPA Needs Support to Compete

at Nationals in California

We are a member of Business Professionals of America (BPA), a national organization of over 43,000 students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology, and other related career fields.

The highlight of BPA each year is district, state, and national leadership conferences where competitive events are held. These competitive events offer students an opportunity to demonstrate and to be recognized for their business knowledge and skills.

Our chapter has had another very successful year. 20 students in grades 6-12 have qualified to attend and compete at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA on May 4-10, 2015.

The 20 students and their events are:

Samantha Nance:  Intro to Video Production Team & Prepared Speech (Middle Level)

Riley Guetig:  Intro to Video Production Team (Middle Level)

Madeline Gibson:  Intro to Video Production Team (Middle Level)

Max Strother:  Intro to Video Production Team (Middle Level)

We are asking for your financial support. The cost for each student to attend is approximately $1,432.11. Our chapter has began approaching community businesses and their families to help lower each student’s total, but until we see how much money we can raise from community businesses, our students need to raise their amount with help from family and friends. If there is anything that you can donate, we would greatly appreciate it!

Your contribution is tax deductible and checks would be made payable to “LRCC BPA Chapter”.

Your support will go to our very deserving students. If you have further questions, please call me at (812) 844-6387 or email me at wolfeb@wwcs.k12.in.us. We also have a chapter portfolio available if you would like a greater background of our organization.

Principal Nance Named Superintendent

by Joey Roop, Dakota Cambron & Seth Miller

All of the rumors and whispers were confirmed by the School Board Monday April 20, when they hired Principal Keith Nance as West Washington School Superintendent starting July 1, 2015.

Nance stated “ I did not make this decision because I was unhappy with my job, I love the school, its students and its staff. I felt compelled to apply and fight for the position, because I know that the next few years will be very critical for our corporation”

Students will still see Nance regularly, because he said “I intend to be in the building and very involved.”

“My ego is not so large that I believe that I can fix all of the problems we will face, but I know that I will fight like crazy for our corporation and its health... I want  to see our school thrive, not survive.”

The high school principal position is now open, and as of now there are fifteen applications for the position.
